Associate Design Director, Product (UI)


MRM New York is hiring an Associate Design Director, Product for the Design and Experience team. You will be involved in all aspects of product design and development, from research and ideation, through detailed design and testing, to implementation and learning. You’ll help drive the roadmap, presenting and evaluating options, and crafting the approach.


Responsibilities:

  • Support the management of a team of designers, and other design professionals, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Support the development and implementation of design strategies, processes, and best practices to ensure high-quality and consistent UI design output.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior UI designers, supporting their professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and developers to translate user needs and business requirements into visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces.
  • Conduct design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to design standards and brand guidelines.
  • Create high-fidelity UI designs, prototypes, and interactive mockups to effectively communicate design concepts and interactions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging design patterns, and technology advancements to drive innovation in UI design.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to present and communicate design concepts, rationale, and strategic recommendations.
  • Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback to iterate on designs and optimize the user interface.
  • Assist in the management of design projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project goals and deadlines.


Requirements:

  • 8+ years of proven experience as a UI designer, or similar role, preferably in a leadership or senior designer role.
  • A well-rounded product design portfolio with result-driven case studies demonstrating the ability to articulate design decisions and design systems.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, visual design principles, and UI best practices.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma and Adobe Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of typography, color theory, and layout composition.
  • Experience in creating visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces that align with brand guidelines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate user needs into effective design solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback to junior designers and guide their growth.
  • Familiarity with front-end development principles and collaboration with development teams.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $205,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; the associated discipline; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
