Our employer, a leading governmental agency responsible for providing economical and environmentally conscious waste management services, is in search of a Mechanic.
Position Overview
Responsible for maintaining and repairing automotive and heavy equipment, including diesel and gasoline-powered machinery. Reports to the Senior Mechanic/Equipment Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair vehicles and heavy equipment, including engines, brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, and air systems.
- Use welding, cutting, and diagnostic tools.
- Perform tire service, inspections, and adjustments.
- Operate equipment as needed and document maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, 3 years' mechanic experience, or equivalent training.
- Licenses: Valid Florida Class E Driver’s License. CDL Class B required within one year (cost reimbursed by employer).
- Tools: Must own trade tools.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, safety practices, and diagnostic tools.
- Skilled in repairs, welding, and equipment operation.
- Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and document issues effectively.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Work outdoors in varying conditions with exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, and machinery.
- Frequent climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs., occasionally 100 lbs. with assistance), and physical activity.
- Requires full vision capabilities and ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
