Fire Sprinkler Technician 1 - Washington, D.CnnID 11938nnLocation Washington, DCnnApply Now ( Fire Sprinkler Technician 1 is responsible for conducting inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems, life safety equipment, and fire extinguishers. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the safety and protection of lives and property by maintaining and verifying the functionality of these essential fire safety systems.nnKey Responsibilities:nnInspection and Testing:nnPerform inspection, testing of fire pumps, wet systems, dry systems, tamper switches, water-flow devices, and hydrants.nnPerforms routine maintenance and inspects fire extinguisher equipment.nnPerform periodic inspections and tests of the fire suppression systems.nnMaintenance and Repairs:nnConduct maintenance and repairs on life safety equipment, sprinkler heads, pipes, and valves as needed.nnPerform routine maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance.nnRecharge fire extinguishers and replace components that have exceeded their service life.nnDocumentation and Reporting:nnMaintain meticulous records of inspections, tests, maintenance activities, and any identified issues.nnGenerate detailed inspection and testing reports for clients, regulatory authorities, and internal records.nnProvide recommendations and cost estimates for necessary repairs or replacements.nnCompliance and Safety:nnEnsure all work is conducted in strict compliance with local, state, and national fire safety codes and regulations.nnAdhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment.nnStay updated on industry developments and changes in safety codes and standards.nnClient Relations:nnInteract professionally with clients, addressing their inquiries and concerns.nnDeliver excellent customer service and maintain positive client relationships.nnQualifications:nnHigh school diploma or equivalent (additional relevant certifications or vocational training is a plus).nnNICET I in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems or ability to pass exam within 90 days of employment ornnMinimum of 4 years of experience in fire alarm systems, life safety equipment, and fire suppression systems testing and maintenance.nnComprehensive knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations.nnFamiliarity with various types of fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, and life safety equipment.nnProficiency in using testing equipment and tools.nnPhysical and Personal RequirementsnnLift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.nnRelocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.nnWork at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.nnWalk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.nnPossess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.nnMay use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.nnTell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
