Position Overview

The Stage Manager is a key leader in the Event Operations team, responsible for overseeing the smooth execution of live events, performances, and productions. This role ensures that all technical, logistical, and performance elements are coordinated seamlessly during events. The ideal candidate is highly organized, a strong communicator, and skilled at managing teams in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Event Coordination

• Collaborate with Event Managers, Technical Directors, and creative teams to understand event requirements and schedules.
• Create and distribute production schedules, call sheets, and crew assignments.
• Oversee setup and ensure all staging, lighting, AV, and other technical elements are installed according to specifications.

On-Site Event Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for crew, performers, and vendors during events.
• Manage the timing of cues and transitions, ensuring all elements are executed smoothly and on schedule.
• Troubleshoot technical or logistical issues in real-time to minimize disruptions.
• Communicate changes and updates to relevant teams promptly and effectively.

Team Coordination

• Lead pre-show briefings with production teams and performers to review schedules and expectations.
• Supervise stagehands, riggers, and technical crew during setup, rehearsals, and live events.
• Foster clear communication between technical, creative, and operational teams to ensure seamless execution.

Post-Event Duties

• Oversee breakdown and load-out, ensuring equipment and materials are handled safely and efficiently.
• Conduct post-event reviews with team members to identify successes and areas for improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of event details and provide feedback to leadership.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Stage Manager or similar role in live event production, theater, or entertainment.
• Strong understanding of staging, lighting, audio-visual systems, and production workflows.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask in high-pressure environments.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate crew members.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Physical ability to lift and move equipment and work long hours, including nights and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of relevant job experience.
• Familiarity with Hawai‘i’s cultural and creative industries is highly desirable.
• Experience with technical production software and tools, such as QLab, Show Cue Systems, or similar.
