Materials Demand Planner (Supply Chain/Procurement)

Long Beach, CA 90815 (Onsite - *local candidates)

$45-48hr

3-6 month contract to turn permanent based on performance

Full-time: M-F 8am-5pm PST (onsite/1 day remote)



Our client is an American aerospace manufacturing company headquartered in Long Beach, CA. They are developing manufacturing technologies, launch vehicles, and rocket engines for commercial orbital launch services.

About the Role:

For the Structures Supply Chain, you’ll work cross-functionally to accurately capture material demand, maintain real-time visibility into supply sources and levels, and drive material requirements planning to inform procurement strategy and operations.




What excites you:

  • Partner with Sourcing/Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Integration, Test, and Launch organizations to derive material demand from complex multilevel Bill of Materials (BOMs) and schedules that will drive material requirement plans and priorities across multiple vehicle missions and programs.
  • Generate material requirement signals and partner with Sourcing and Procurement personnel to develop and action material acquisition strategies.
  • Responsible for deriving and incorporating necessary data inputs to drive accurate material demand planning
  • Manage the mission-by-mission ‘Clear to Build’ process, providing accurate and real-time visibility into material supply & demand while ensuring alignment between Engineering, Supply Chain and Manufacturing, Test, and Launch.
  • Develop material allocation strategies/models for constrained or at-risk materials based on company priorities and supply conditions.
  • Quantify material forecasts that will inform Sourcing’s immediate- and medium-term material acquisition strategies.
  • Participate in the development of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and processes within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) that will ultimately increase automation and fidelity of end-to-end planning operations



What excites us:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain/operations management or equivalent experience
  • 2-15 years in a Material Planning, Demand Planning, Fulfillment Planning a fast-paced manufacturing, aerospace, supply chain, engineering or similar
  • Must have experience with Materials Requirements Planning,(MRP) SAP, Oracle, OR similar ERP (E.g., Material Attributes, Demand, Supply, and MRP Environment Inputs)
  • Must have understanding of what MRP does pertaining to materials/Demand planning ( What are main components that make MRP work etc)
  • Requires knowing how to create a demand forecast and what demand inputs are needed to make MRP work.
  • Must have experience to obtain the parts from a team member, obtain the parts, and calculate what parts are short within MRP
  • Able to capture material demand, maintain rea-time visibility into supply sources and levels – materials forecasting.
  • Experience for deriving and incorporating necessary data inputs to drive accurate material demand planning
  • Must have intermediate Excel experience ( Data manipulation, able to support integration from excel to ERP, pulling reports, etc.)
  • Must have excellent experience working cross-functionally and heavy collaboration with internal stakeholders: engineering, manufacturing, Procurement, Supply Chain, finance, accounting, quality, and executive management.
  • Must have worked in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience working in a role that required meeting tight deadlines, scheduling deadlines and follow-ups with depts.
