A client of Insight Global is seeking an Estimator to sit on-site in the Fort Meade, MD area. This person will be responsible for activities related to estimating all the elements of federal construction project costs including labor (manual and non-manual), materials and permanent equipment, supplies, consumables and expenses, and construction equipment rental and operating costs, contingency, escalation, program risk, etc. Day to Day responsibilities include:
- Leading the provision of quality estimates for all project phases and stages.
- Handling multiple proposals at one time, reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, and attending pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required content of estimates.
- Provide complete conceptual estimates and estimates prepared with incomplete plans to carry through to final estimates.
- Managing the estimating framework, systems, and resources to deliver an effective estimating service to Project Managers, Program managers and Senior Leaders.
- Determining the quality of information provided for the compilation of estimates and the suitability and classification of estimates to be prepared.
- Advising the project and program teams on all aspects of estimating.
- Monitoring and auditing the quality of estimates (and associated underpinning), including subcontractor submissions.
Qualifications Needed:
- 10+ years of Estimator experience, specifically estimating Facility Maintenance projects and/or planning and scheduling experience
- Background in Federal/Government construction
- Well-rounded in all trades: Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, etc.
- Ability to handle multiple proposals at a time, specifically proposals over $20 million
- Well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter capable of working independently and as a member of a team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
