Job Summary
The Surgery Team Care Specialist provides basic support of patients, transportation of patients, and retrieval of equipment. Completes documentation of information and provides communication to the healthcare team as necessary. The Surgery Team Care Specialist is responsible for cleanliness of equipment, rooms, supplies, and maintaining hallways to ensure the safety of the patients.
Job Responsibilities
  • Observes, documents, and communicates significant findings, and any procedure results, to the Registered Nurse to minimize and prevent delays or complications in patient care.
  • Documents pertinent patient care data on appropriate forms, and/or within the electronic patient chart, that meets legal, ethical, and procedural guidelines and requirements. Assume information management responsibilities.
  • Assists in the provision of routine hygienic, nutritional, and comfort needs of patients such as, but not limited to: bathing; distributing fluids and nourishments; feeding; ambulating; changing bed linens; oral care; grooming; shampooing hair; toileting;
  • Performs routine clinical tests and procedures such as, but not limited to:vital signs; hot/cold packs; measuring and documenting patient input and output; weighing patients; bladder ultrasound; and suction set up. Deliver lab specimens to the lab and complete documentation.
  • Performs basic nursing support tasks such as but not limited to: answering call lights; transporting patients; transporting specimens; assisting with patient transfers; and range of motion.
  • Assists physicians and other team members with treatments and procedures as directed. May assist RN in PACU as needed
  • Performs unit support functions, such as but not limited to: answering the phone; retrieving and transporting supplies and equipment; orienting patient to room upon admission, maintaining clean, clutter free hallways, rooms, and safety for the facility.
  • Assists in instrument room, storeroom, stocking areas, inventory duties, participate in and attend meetings.
  • Perform duties as an active member of the healthcare team. Demonstrate a knowledge of team dynamics and contribute to team building and skills related to participation in and strengthening of the multidisciplinary team approach to the delivery of patient care.
  • Comply with all applicable policies and procedures, including, but not limited to: all departmental and functional policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent qualifications as a high school graduate
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum: One (1) year in a hospital environment
