POSITION SUMMARY: Performs respiratory therapy modalities as ordered by physician, develops care plans, maintains mechanical ventilation, administers medications, and operates respiratory equipment. Draws and analyzes blood gases, documents patient therapies and communicates concerns.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program.
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Other certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) are desirable.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year of skilled respiratory experience within the last two years.
- Must work well in a fast-paced patient care environment.
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong focus on customer service and ability to provide care to a culturally diverse group of patients.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Access to reliable transportation for travel between multiple work sites.
