We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience, including a strong background in the legal industry. This stand-alone role is responsible for managing all aspects of human resources within the firm, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and policy development. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, and serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees alike.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead end-to-end recruitment processes, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring for all roles within the firm.
- Develop and maintain a talent pipeline to meet the firm’s ongoing staffing needs.
- Prepare job postings, manage relationships with external recruiters, and leverage professional networks to attract top talent.
- Oversee the onboarding process, ensuring new hires are successfully integrated into the team and equipped for success.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and conflict resolution.
- Foster a positive work environment by promoting engagement initiatives and maintaining open lines of communication.
- Provide guidance and support to managers on performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee development.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain and update HR policies and procedures in alignment with employment laws and firm standards.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including workplace safety and employment equity.
- Manage and maintain confidential employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with data privacy regulations.
Benefits Administration
- Coordinate the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, and retirement plans.
- Act as the liaison with benefits providers to address employee inquiries and resolve issues.
Performance Management & Training
- Oversee the performance review process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and employee development.
- Identify training needs and coordinate professional development programs to support the growth of team members.
Strategic HR Initiatives
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement HR strategies that align with the firm’s goals.
- Monitor HR metrics and provide insights to leadership to support decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years as an HR Generalist, with at least 2 years of experience in a law firm or legal environment.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment law, HR best practices, and legal industry-specific HR challenges.
- Skills:
- Proven success in recruitment, particularly for professional and specialized roles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certifications: HR designation (e.g., CHRP, SHRM-CP) is preferred but not required.
