Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist on behalf of our client. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support researchers by identifying funding opportunities, preparing and processing proposals, negotiating contracts, and managing awards. This position is ideal for experienced professionals with a strong background in grants, contracts, and finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify funding opportunities and assist researchers with application processes using various resources.
- Provide guidance for proposal development and ensure adherence to sponsor and institutional guidelines.
- Manage grant and contract administration, including negotiation, processing awards, and interpreting conditions.
- Negotiate contracts with state and federal agencies, private organizations, and biotechnological/pharmaceutical companies.
- Draft and review contracts while ensuring compliance with state laws and organizational policies.
- Supervise Grants and Contracts Specialists and related administrative staff.
- Assist in financial management related to grants, contracts, and awards.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
- Experience:
- At least 4 years of experience in business or public administration with a focus on customer service in financial or contracting roles.
- Proven experience with NIH Award Mechanisms and grants/contracts administration.
- Skills:
- Strong financial or accounting background.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or similar grants certification is highly desirable.
