We are recruiting to fill an Apprentice Court Clerk position to perform entry level duties in a court, which utilizes an electronic filing system. Work initially is under close supervision while the incumbent learns general office knowledge and specific court policies and procedures. Work involves responsibility for court case processing which may require the application of independent judgment and the application of statutes, policies, and regulations. Work requires frequent interaction with the public providing exceptional customer service. Work may also involve financial record keeping within an automated case management system, providing direct support for a circuit judge or associate circuit judge providing a full range of responsibilities within the division's jurisdiction.
General Duties:
Perform technical clerical work in the Family Court - Orders of Protection Department which will include the following: explain to litigants the procedures for filing and issuing all forms and pleadings necessary for Adult Orders of Protection/Child Protection petitions; prepare ex-parte orders; make docket entries of all pleadings filed, including sheriff returns; ensure accuracy of documents filed by attorneys through the court's electronic filing system before acceptance; scan and attach documents by using DMS in the case management system; notify parties as required; prepare dockets; enter dispositions of the cases in the court's automated case management system (SMC); transport orders to multiple divisions both electronically and in paper form during court hearings; answer inquiries and furnish information to attorneys, court personnel and the general public in person and by telephone; and perform other duties as assigned. EXTENSIVE PUBLIC AND TELEPHONE CONTACT IS REQUIRED. THIS POSITION WILL WORK MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, WITH VARYING START AND END TIMES BETWEEN 8:00 A.M. AND 6:00 P.M. WITH ROTATING SATURDAYS 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.
