Provides hospital-based crisis management and supportive brief counseling services to patients that present with a primary or secondary behavioral health concern in the emergency rooms and/or inpatient units. This position works in collaboration with the psychiatrist, psychiatric midlevels and leadership to ensure immediate care needs are addressed while at Northside Hospital and the appropriate interventions match the level of care recommendations for aftercare. Functions as a senior level clinician within the team. The BHS Clinician will be working Monday - Friday , 3:30p-Midnight PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides consultation, guidance and leadership to patients and staff in the emergency departments. Provides consultation to inpatient patients as referred for evaluation and placement of care recommendations. Assist in the diagnosis, 1013/2013 assessment and ongoing management, risk assessments and placement of patients in the emergency department and inpatient floors. Ensures assigned behavioral health patients have adequate discharge plans for care. Support psychiatrists and advanced practice nurses in their role within the medical model. Participates in the quality improvement process by identifying programmatic issues, collecting data used to monitor quality and analyzing information. Provides in-services, workshops and educational services to non-BH staff to assist with behavioral health care within the hospital system. Maintains working knowledge of regulatory requirements, including TJC, Medicare, Medicaid, State of Georgia, and other payers. Is a knowledgeable leader of programmatic changes in State of Georgia expectations. Assumes leadership role in a crisis. Regularly performs the duties and responsibilities of the BHS Clinician III Completes clinical documentation to meet standards of care and documentation requirements. REQUIRED:1. Master's degree from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related mental health discipline with an emphasis on clinical experience. 2. Three years experience past Master's in the mental health field. 3. Licensed as a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist), or LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) 4. Must be CPR certified. PREFERRED:1. Prior clinical experience providing outpatient mental health or inpatient psychiatric services.
