Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Prepares cost estimates and proposals of currently offered manufactured items and new design/build products. Follows the flow of materials, components, tooling, paperwork, etc. in and between departments to conform with production schedules. Assists to drive effective production achievement across all sources by coordinating efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop bill of material by applying product and production knowledge, engineering specifications and other technical data to the customer request, working closely with Engineering, Purchasing, other company departments, suppliers, and the customer.
  • Estimate number of man hours required for project requirements.
  • Prepare cost estimates utilizing standard costs, past manufacturing history, engineering specifications, labor hours and rates, material costs, and other technical data.
  • Consult existing drawings, material labor reports, other available documents from prior jobs, and project costs to apply to the current project being proposed and complete the estimating process.
  • Maintain priority list to assist in organizing the production process including scheduling and notification of urgent needs.
  • Assure accuracy and completeness of orders received complete PO review for schedule and quality requirements.
  • Create Glovia work orders, internal transfer orders and expedite external suppliers to support schedule requirements.
  • Review daily receipts and issue newly arrived material as needed to internal departments and suppliers.
  • Attend and/or chair meetings with suppliers clients and other interested parties to eliminate difficulties and delays.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare estimates and meet with management to review, complete any necessary revisions and submit the proposal.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and OSI Quality to ensure certifications meet PO schedule and requirements.
  • Coordinate with department managers for planning and scheduling requirements.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of experience manufacturing and/or procurement or other related field; Associates degree with at least 4 years of experience; or High School diploma or equivalent with at least 6 years of experience.
  • Prior estimating experience in a similar industry preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced mathematical skills and excel proficiency.
  • Good working knowledge of computer and other software.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to follow detailed and complex instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Use of a computer and other office equipment (scanner, printer, etc.)
  • Prolonged sitting.
  • Moderate walking, standing, bending and reaching, stooping, etc.
  • Lift up to 20 pounds
