PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF POSITION

The hostperson is a member of the Food and Beverage team that assists in ensuring that The Langham, Boston guest service and food and beverage standards are met. Hospitable, welcoming and friendly guest services are essential requirements of the position.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet and seat guest
  • Answer the telephone/take reservations/manage reservations
  • Stock Menus
  • Responsible for handling guest requests.
  • Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham & Forbes standards.
  • Ensure restaurant is clean at closing.
  • Receiving take out orders both in person and on the phone and making sure guest receive their orders


SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS 

  • Assist server/busser/bartender as needed
  • Additional duties not mentioned above may also be requested by supervisor


JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY 

  • Use written (verbal/visual) sources of information, e.g. read reports, procedural documentation, and reference materials.
  • Use verbal auditory sources of information.
  • Use non-verbal auditory sources of information, e.g. alarms.
  • Use oral communication to perform work, e.g. answer telephone, and receive visitors.
  • Make minor decisions requiring limited judgment, e.g. task sequencing, and Make general decisions in the absence of specific directions, e.g. prioritizing workload
  • Must have related previous experience in similar environment
  • React well and remain in control when working with high volume under pressure
  • Attend monthly department meeting and provided trainings
  • Demonstrate team playing skills at all times
  • Have positive attitude and set example among colleagues
  • Must have full availability to work restaurants hours of operation
