The University of Iowa Division of Gastroenterology-Hepatology at the University of Iowa is adding BC/BE Gastroenterologists to an expanding division composed of diverse academic faculty with broad clinical and research interests. The Division is seeking faculty members for appointment on the clinical or tenure track at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The position is not eligible for J1 sponsorship.

Responsibilities Include:
The Department of Internal Medicine and Division of Gastroenterology-Hepatology at the University of Iowa is recognized for its leadership in education, research, and clinical care. Successful candidates will become part of an internationally recognized and well-established academic GI/ Hepatology program, a critical component of University of Iowa Health Care, the only tertiary and quaternary care provider in the region.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including endoscopies and colonoscopies, to evaluate and treat gastrointestinal disorders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients.
- Provide outpatient and inpatient consultation for a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions.
- Supervise and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical and academic settings.
- Participate in departmental activities, including quality improvement initiatives, conferences, and continuing education. Research activities are encouraged, though participation is not required for continued employment or promotion.
Requirements:
• Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
• Applicants must have a medical degree (or equivalent) and show successful completion of an approved residency program in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology.
• The selected candidate must be eligible to obtain or already hold an active Iowa medical license and DEA. In addition, Iowa requires that you hold your Controlled Substance License.
• Candidates must be board-certified in Gastroenterology (or non-U.S. Board equivalent) or in the certification process (pending completion of residency or fellowship). Applicants trained outside the U.S. with equivalent national certification may also be considered.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
