Job Description:

Title: Data Center Tech

Location: New Carlisle, IN

Contract: 6 months with possibility of extension/conversion

Pay: $21-$22/hr.

Shift : M-F 8am-5pm or 7am-3:30pm. Potential to go four 10's schedule with Front half (Sun-Wed) Back half (Wed-Sat) shifts

You will work in a team environment and collaborate with other teams, which requires strong communication skills. Our client's Data Centers takes customer data with the utmost importance, and selected candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks without variance and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that ensures customer data is protected and properly handled.

Role Responsibilities:

- Communicate with local lead to ensure daily expectations are clear and achieved

- Pull cable inventory from stock

- Apply location labels to cables

- Carry labels to position and install into 12ft high cable trays

- Reading and understanding labels

- Updating completed work in tracking documents

- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in cramped and/or elevated locations.

- Experience of working In a data center is rare and a niche environment

- Working with multiple teams and vendors, fast paced, great exposure

Basic Qualifications:

- 0-1 years of structured cabling experience

- Complete understanding of industry cable test procedures and equipment for a variety of different cabling systems (Copper/Fiber test equipment, OTDR, Network analyzer, vfl etc.)

- Thorough understanding of Cat 5e, Cat 6 and OM3/4 – OS2 fiber optic cabling systems

- Ability to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds and move up to 50 pounds

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook

- Ability to work under pressure and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

- Strong networking understanding/basic IT hardware familiarity.

- Hands-on/technical experience (e.g. mechanic, automotive mechanic, electronics technician, people who have to troubleshoot small mechanics). Geek Squad or Microcenter experience.
