General Job Description Overview:

The HR Business Partner will use analytical expertise with strategic HR leadership to support our supermarket business. The Human Resource (HR) Business Partner will collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics, and apply this data to make recommendations related to recruitment, retention, and legal compliance. This role is pivotal in driving workforce optimization through data analysis and reporting while partnering with leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives. The ideal candidate will excel at leveraging HR data to deliver actionable insights, ensure compliance with HR programs, foster team member engagement, and provide proactive solutions to address workforce challenges, ensuring the continued success of our organization.


Key Responsibilities:

Dashboard Development:

Identify critical HR metrics and KPIs to track on dashboards.

Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports to monitor key HR performance indicators (KPIs) to present complex data clearly.

Integrate data from various HR systems (ATS, payroll, performance management) into dashboards.

Regularly review and update dashboards to reflect changing business priorities.


HR Analytics & Interpretation:

  • Analyze and interpret HR data, trends, and patterns—such as turnover, team member engagement, attendance, and performance metrics—to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Audit corporate and store HR reports for accuracy and efficiency improvements.
  • Leverage HRIS Systems to sustain and scale HR process while ensuring data integrity.
  • Generate reports and presentations to communicate key insights to stakeholders.
  • Conduct ad-hoc data analysis to address specific business questions.


Business Partnering & Collaboration:

  • Partner with Regional HR Managers, District HR Supervisors, Store Management and regional leaders to align HR initiatives with business objectives and priorities.
  • Provide coaching and guidance on performance management, team member relations, and organizational development.
  • Lead workforce planning efforts for new stores, including talent acquisition, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Support team member engagement programs to foster a positive workplace culture aligned with the organization’s values.
  • Serve as a change agent to guide managers and employees through organizational initiatives and process improvements.
  • Provide strategic advice on performance management, team member relations, and compliance with employment laws.


Program Implementation & Compliance

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and controlling HR programs and policies.
  • Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOP) for the human resources department.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and recommend necessary adjustments.
  • Engage with recruitment efforts, including attending and coordinating events for new store openings.
  • Collaborate with the Recruitment Manager and Operations Management to develop, review, and update store and corporate job descriptions as needed, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Distribute finalized job descriptions upon approval from the HR Director and/or Chief People Officer (CPO).
  • Assist the Director in evaluating department needs, meeting with HR service vendors to explore innovative ideas, and recommending cost-effective services, programs, and solutions.
  • Conduct community outreach to enhance diversity recruitment strategies.


Strategic & Administrative Duties:

  • Participate in strategic planning meetings and serve as a liaison between HR and store operations.
  • Develop annual activity calendars, templates, and resources to support HR initiatives.
  • Represent HR leadership in key meetings.


Other Duties:

  • Assist in supporting all current and future programs implemented by Vallarta Supermarkets
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department's goals.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Must be able to exemplify Vallarta’s Core Values (Customer Service, Commitment, Integrity, Respect, Humility, Teamwork)
  • Proven experience in HR analytics and business partnering, preferably in the retail or supermarket industry.
  • Strong proficiency in HR systems (e.g., HRIS, ATS) and data visualization tools (e.g., Dashboards, Power BI, or Tableau).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint); ability to create executive level summaries and presentations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS, ATS, and similar employee management software.
  • Ability to locate resources to achieve the Human Resources department objectives.
  • Ability to discern confidential and public information.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to make sound and independent judgment while performing various tasks and assignments.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English and speak and understand Spanish.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Business Analytics; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred but not required.
  • 2 years of experience in HR analytics
  • 2 - 3 years’ experience in general HR practices.
  • Must pass a criminal, credit, and MVR check.


Working Conditions:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
  • Must be able to drive to different Vallarta locations
  • Overnight stays may be required per business needs.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to transfer to other locations as needed.


Expected Hours of Work

Flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Physical Demands

Will be required to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. May also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is management, exempt level position, must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by operations (any day of the week and different schedule shifts as needed).
