Job Summary/Company :

Sparks Group has partnered with a well-established, Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) government contractor in the Northern Virginia area in search of a qualified Purchasing Specialist. In this key role, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the company's procurement activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and contributing to the overall success of our projects. Responsibilities :

  • Support and execute all procurement activities for the company, including sourcing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with all purchasing and cost accounting requirements, including FAR/DFARS and other relevant regulations.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions, ensuring value engineering and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct market research and obtain multiple quotes to secure the best pricing and delivery terms.
  • Maintain and improve the company's purchasing processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with ISO standards.
  • Author and maintain comprehensive purchasing policies for the company.
  • Support project accounting functions by maintaining accurate contract and subcontract files.
  • Manage domestic and international freight shipments, including compliance with international delivery procedures.


Qualifications/Background Profile :

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3-8 years of experience in government purchasing, with a strong preference for DoD (Department of Defense) experience.
  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and cost accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
