Job Description

Pacific International has been retained by a leading chemical manufacturer seeking a Senior Manufacturing Leader at the organization's largest and highly critical site. The Manufacturing Manager will develop and implement processes and systems to optimize production efficiency and reliability while fostering a culture centered on improved asset reliability, maximizing plant uptime, and planning for both short- and long-term capital projects. This role involves establishing and executing a long-term asset strategy to ensure equipment operates within design parameters and is upgraded or replaced cost-effectively, working collaboratively with other functional areas of the plant to coordinate and optimize all aspects of production.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to effectively develop both processes and people. They should have a preventative and proactive mindset, eager to drive change independently, and demonstrate integrity, with experience in control engineering and managing turnarounds. Additionally, they must excel at planning and scoping work to address gaps in current practices while adopting a visionary approach to building a high-performing team and creating sustainable systems and processes.

Requirements:

  • Manage risks to production, including safety, quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team to develop and execute weekly, monthly, and annual production plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental policies, including PSM and RPM regulations.
  • Focus on employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production and reduce waste.
  • Foster strong working relationships with maintenance, engineering, and commercial teams.
  • Oversee a team of production supervisors, team leaders, and operators, providing mentorship and support for professional development.
  • Allocate resources efficiently to meet production targets, including labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Monitor and address KPIs such as production rates, energy yield, and downtime.
  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime and costs.
  • Drive manufacturing performance improvement through incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and manage the operating budget, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering with at least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience in a PSM-regulated industrial fertilizer, petrochemical, or power generation facility is a plus.
    • Strong operations leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
    • Proven ability to implement and sustain continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing a budget and controlling costs.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
