Job Description

Summary: To create or modify systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, and information to efficiently produce our products. This job requires a self-motivated, technical professional whose abilities include good organization skills, detail-orientation, creativity and strong interpersonal and communication skills. 


Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and establish sequences of operations, for new and existing products, to fabricate and assemble parts or products most efficiently.
  2. Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
  3. Partner with Design Engineering to transition new products to production.
  4. Investigate manufacturing related failures and recommend corrective actions
  5. Collaborate with the quality department to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost
  6. Establish and maintain manufacturing specifications. (ex. standard work, routing, other technical input, and documentation)
  7. Develop and deploy manufacturing systems (e.g. bills of materials, component allocations, label printing, etc.)
  8. Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards; Establish quality and reliability objectives of finished products.
  9. Develop manufacturing methods to improve labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
  10. Identify potential disruptions in production flow or delay in procurement, and support problem resolution.
  11. Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspaces to illustrate maximum efficiency using drafting and electronic tools.
  12. Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities
  13. Develop business cases, proposals, and investment analytics for capital equipment expenditures.
  14. Lead or participate in efforts that improve the ergonomics of assembly operations. Confer with vendors, staff, and management regarding product specifications of purchased equipment or items.
  15. Provide technical assistance and expertise to Manufacturing to address challenges, using data driven process improvements, implement corrective action and training as needed.
  16. Develop strategies to improve existing processes such as the integration of automation solutions, process documentation, and fixture development.
  17. Manage documentation related to processes at Liberty Pumps.  
  18. You will be expected to operate according to ISO 9001 requirements.
  19. Held responsible and accountable to follow safety guidelines, maintain a clean and organized work area, and use good safety judgment. Expected to report all unsafe activities and conditions to the Supervisor and/or Safety Representative.

Minimum Qualifications: Computer literate in common word processing and Windows-based programs and strong set of maintained CAD skills. Willing to work in a team environment, and familiar with concurrent engineering techniques, design of experiments, design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA). Skilled at multitasking and moving projects through various development phases.


Education/Training: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering or Industrial Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar engineering background is required.


Experience/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, interpret, and develop documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Handle multiple projects simultaneously. Willing to work in a team environment and familiar with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly. Self-motivated, capable of taking direction as well as working with minimal supervision, and able to mentor others.


Work Schedule/Hours: Monday – Friday with typical business hours. Occasional overtime may be necessary when working on special projects. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
