From large-scale industrial projects to preliminary feasibility studies, our goal is to provide value through creative and cost-effective design solutions. Responsibilities:
Design and Technical Expertise:
- Develop detailed design plans, drawings, and specifications for public works projects, including roadways, stormwater management systems, and water/wastewater infrastructure.
- Utilize advanced design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar tools to create high-quality deliverables.
- Perform complex calculations and analyses for grading, drainage, and utility design.
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company standards.
Project Coordination and Oversight:
- Lead design efforts for multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery of quality work.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to integrate design with overall project goals.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
Quality Assurance and Mentorship:
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior designers and drafters, fostering skill development and technical growth.
- Provide input on best practices and design standards to improve efficiency and quality.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Participate in client meetings to understand project needs and present design solutions.
- Address client feedback and incorporate changes into designs as needed.
- Assist with preparing technical reports, exhibits, and presentations for stakeholder review.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support business development efforts by providing technical expertise for proposals and project scopes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes relevant to public works design.
- Maintain organized project documentation and records.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 8+ years of experience in civil engineering design, with a focus on public works projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar design software.
- Strong knowledge of public works standards, codes, and permitting processes.
- PE license preferred but not required.
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
