Position overview

Currie & Brown is looking for an Electrical Estimator to join our semiconductor team in Santa Clara, CA!! The successful candidate will support project leaders by providing construction expertise of our core services, including estimation, procurement, cost planning and more. These functions should be performed while generating a high standard of service, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing, and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider. Qualified candidates should also possess a strong desire to lead, mentor and develop a successful team.


Responsibilities for the successful candidate(s) will include:


  • Preparing and analyzing (scoping) electrical construction costs and estimating
  • Assisting in negotiating and managing all direct construction costs with trade contractors
  • Undertaking responsibility for driving the estimating and cost management function for assigned projects, including benchmarking, cost control and cost reporting
  • Providing leadership regarding cost and direction to the client’s project management team on assigned projects
  • Supporting and partnering with procurement, value engineering, LEED analysis and lifecycle cost studies
  • Undertaking responsibility for maintaining the accurate current project cost status on a weekly basis
  • Leading change order meetings and collaborating with project manager in validating and pricing the changes across multiple trade specialties
  • Participating in the review of estimates for completeness and accuracy
  • Supporting the training/mentoring of estimating staff


Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, mathematics or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years construction estimating experience preferably in the oil and gas, high-tech or industrial environments
  • Must be proficient with electrical takeoffs.
  • Membership of relevant professional organization highly preferred, eg RICS, ASPE, AACEI
  • Experience with advising clients on value management, value engineering and lifecycle costing
  • Good organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong professional interpersonal skills and appreciation of challenges involved in working within a clients’ office environment
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to chair and run scope and estimate review meetings
