Russell Tobin is working with a globally recognized consumer electronic device manufacturer to support their new product development team!
Contract Length: 6+ months, with potential for extension or permanent conversion
Compensation: $65–$70/hour
Key Qualifications:
- Motivation and Creativity: Strong curiosity, passion for innovation, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Design Expertise: Mechanical intuition, spatial reasoning, attention to detail, and innovative thinking.
- Engineering Fundamentals: Proficiency in statics, strength of materials, material science, and statistics.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to clearly articulate design concepts and actively contribute to brainstorming sessions.
- CAD Experience: Proficiency in 3D CAD software (any program). Familiarity with 2D drafting and GD&T is a plus.
- Design Cycle Knowledge: Experience managing designs from concept to manufacturing is preferred.
- Mass Production Design: Background in designing molded, formed, or machined components for high-volume production is a significant advantage.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in mechanical design within the industry.
- Software: Minimum 2 years of experience with Siemens NX.
Role Overview:
- Utilizing CAD Tools: Create and refine 2D/3D models to communicate design concepts, inspection criteria, and testing methods.
- Expanding Technical Knowledge: Dive into areas outside your expertise to understand cross-functional constraints and deliver innovative solutions.
- Collaborating Across Teams: Work with external vendors and internal manufacturing experts to enhance designs for functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
- Technical Development: Engage in activities such as tolerance and stress analysis, electro-mechanical integration, design for high-volume production, prototyping, failure analysis, fixture design, metrology, and statistical process control.
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
