Job Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Quantify cost factors, including production time, materials, labor, and other expenses.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information on material and labor needs for accurate project assessment.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical documents to develop detailed project estimates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and sub-contractors, to create constructability plans and estimates.
  • Consult with industry experts and management to resolve estimate-related issues.
  • Utilize software tools, including Excel and Bluebeam, to prepare and manage cost estimates.
  • Assess project cost-effectiveness and propose strategies to enhance profitability.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and coordinate with teams to prepare competitive client bids.
  • Review and compare budgets against actual performance, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Assist in drafting work scopes, managing contract change orders, and negotiating project adjustments.
  • Ensure timely submission of required documentation in compliance with company policies.
  • Support multiple projects by applying strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.


Experience & Education Required

  • Prior experience in utilities or construction environments preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in medium/high voltage electrical substation and transmission construction).
  • Ability to read and analyze construction drawings and specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry practices, procedures, and trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience in medium/high voltage electrical construction.
  • Knowledge and experience with estimating EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) projects.
  • Familiarity with estimating work such as substation construction and transmission line projects.
