Job description
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and assess patient nutrition care plans.
- Conduct age-appropriate evaluations for patients identified as being at nutrition risk, including diabetes management and education according to established guidelines.
- Customize nutrition plans based on patients’ unique economic, social, cultural, and age-specific needs.
- Regularly reassess patients and modify care plans as necessary.
- Provide tailored education to patients and families to support their nutrition care plan.
- Evaluate learning needs and readiness to learn for patients and families.
- Contribute to the creation and review of educational materials and resources to address the needs of the patient population.
Skills:
- Proficiency in nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, and pediatric care.
- Ability to identify deficiencies and develop corrective actions, assess needs, make recommendations, and educate others on nutrition.
- Competency with word processing, spreadsheet software, and nutrition-related programs on a computer.
- Experience as an outpatient dietitian in a Gastroenterology Clinic, handling conditions like overweight, fatty liver, failure to thrive, picky eaters, G-tube feedings, motility disorders, etc.
Work Schedule:
- 40 hours per week, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with some flexibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pediatric experience, especially with pediatric specialty formulas.
Education & Certifications:
- RD (Registered Dietitian) certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- LD (Licensed Dietitian) with the Texas Department of Licensing
- Bachelor’s degree.
