We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Director of Operations to provide tactical and strategic leadership across all aspects of our manufacturing and delivery processes. Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Operations , you will:
- Oversee all production activities, including work centers, capital expenditures, direct labor staffing, procurement, inventory management, and workplace safety.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels of qualified personnel to meet current and future requirements, while developing strategic and tactical plans for workforce performance improvement.
- Mentor, train, and develop direct and indirect reports to foster career growth and operational success.
- Create, implement, and refine deterministic operations-related processes and procedures to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Plan and execute Annual Operating Plans to achieve manufacturing profit targets, quality standards, and delivery goals.
- Ensure facilities are structured to meet current and future operational needs by defining building and layout modifications.
- Justify, propose, and oversee capital equipment expenditures.
- Manage preventive maintenance programs for equipment and tooling to ensure process and product excellence.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance processes, improve productivity, and reduce waste.
- Lead initiatives to improve material management and supply chain practices, reducing costs and improving product quality.
- Drive ERP system enhancements (e.g., JDE) to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Champion workplace safety by identifying and implementing preventative measures to reduce risks.
- Maintain ISO certification by ensuring compliance with policies, managing audits, and providing required employee training.
- Ensure all production processes deliver high-quality products that meet customer expectations and are shipped on time.
- Identify and address variances in production costs and timelines, implementing effective corrective actions as needed.
- Lead change initiatives to modernize processes and improve operational efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively across functions to align operations with overall business objectives.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree (required); advanced degree highly preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in manufacturing operations management, with demonstrated success in leadership roles.
- Lean Manufacturing certification (preferred).
- A strong track record of operational achievements using techniques like Daily Management, Root Cause Counter Measures, and Lean principles.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to manage change effectively.
- Functional computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software (JDE experience preferred).
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage and align teams.
