Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage all aspects of on-site construction activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a keen attention to detail. The Construction Superintendent will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful and timely completion of construction projects while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
1. Site Representative:
- Open and close the construction site daily.
- Maintain a continuous on-site presence while trades are working.
- Regularly check in with trade foremen to monitor progress and address any concerns.
- Communicate effectively with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for required inspections.
- Provide progress status reports to the owner as required.
2. Site Safety Manager:
- Manage the job board, postings, manuals, and certifications related to safety.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Conduct jobsite orientations with all trades before the start of work.
- Develop and implement pre-task planning for critical activities such as crane operations, excavation, and shutdowns.
- Promptly provide AUCH incident reports within 24 hours and maintain incident documentation.
- Coordinate the procurement and installation of all materials and equipment with a focus on safety.
3. Scheduling and Onsite Coordination:
- Review and provide feedback on the master schedule and logistics plan.
- Develop and communicate a weekly look-ahead schedule to trades.
- Conduct bi-weekly trade progress meetings to assess and adjust project timelines.
- Coordinate all aspects of material, equipment, and installation logistics to ensure smooth project flow.
4. Project Documentation:
- Maintain detailed daily logs documenting all on-site activities.
- Capture and submit weekly progress photos to document project advancements.
- Communicate critical issues to the project team through written documentation.
- Ensure the most current project documents are on-site and accessible to the project team.
5. Quality Assurance/Quality Control:
- Ensure compliance with scopes of work and project documents.
- Organize and conduct pre-construction, pre-installation, and mock-up meetings as per project requirements.
- Verify that delivered materials comply with contract documents.
- Prepare and manage a punch list, addressing non-compliant work promptly and completing all punch lists within 30 days.
- Notify the project team of any deviations from quality standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor on-site personnel.
- Collaborate with the project management team to address any project-related issues.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with all stakeholders.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for construction processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent with a minimal of 3-5 years’ experience as a Superintendent.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, methods, materials, and safety practices.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction documents, and technical drawings.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills to address unforeseen challenges during construction.
- Strong understanding of construction budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.
- Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, etc.) are desirable.
Environmental/Position of Role:
This position requires regular physical activity and the ability to navigate dynamic construction site environments. Responsibilities include extensive walking across varied terrains, climbing ladders, working at heights with frequent bending, lifting, and carrying of items over 10 pounds.
