UCT is looking for a talented Director, Global IT Infrastructure to join us in!

Reporting to the head of IT, the Director of IT Infrastructure’s role is to lead the planning, development and management of the company's information system infrastructure and communications technology to provide the most efficient support for current operations and future IT needs.


The Director of IT Infrastructure’s primary goals are to attain all relevant IT service level agreements for the user community within the organization, to ensure appropriate information security and business continuity. This role also helps to provide vision and leadership for information and communication infrastructure initiatives across all areas of the organization.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic and operational planning for IT Infrastructure and communication to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to analysis, selection, modification, installation and maintenance of enterprise IT network hardware and software, communication, and security systems.
  • Ensure infrastructure architecture standards maximize efficiency, security, and support platform compatibility.
  • Ensure the operation is in accordance with established procedures and practices.
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance.
  • Define and communicate appropriate IT policies.
  • Ensure processes are documented, properly followed, regularly updated,
  • Hire, develop and motivate an appropriate team that supports the needs of the business.
  • Select and contract with preferred outside providers for services delivery and/or outsourcing.
  • Assess and make recommendations on the improvement or re-engineering of the IT Infrastructure organization including in-sourcing and out-sourcing.
  • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows, UNIX, Linux, LAN, virtualization, storage, Phone, VOIP, integrated communication, network and information security technologies required.
  • Must be familiar with supporting Oracle and SQL databases.
  • Detailed understanding of infrastructure design practices, infrastructure operations and standards, and security standards and frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse users, including both technical and non-technical groups, across all levels of an organization.
  • Must have a strong customer service mentality.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and lead a high performing global team.
  • Demonstrated project leadership capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
  • Strong negotiating and influence skills.
  • Keen attention to detail, hands-on as needed.


Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • University degree in the field of computer science or information systems. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Industry recognized certifications are a plus.


Work Experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience working in the manufacturing industry.
  • 10 + years of IT Infrastructure and Communications experience,


Management Experience (for people manager job only):

  • 5 + years managing IT teams for global organizations over $200M yearly revenue.


Overnight Travel:

Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting). Up to 20%.
