Position Overview: As an Engineering Technician in the Project Management Department, you will assist project managers in the development and execution of various natural gas facility projects. These projects include high-pressure transmission pipelines, compression stations, storage, gathering systems, and gas treatment and processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare requests for materials (RFMs) and requests for services (RFSs).
- Track and manage materials and contractors involved in the project.
- Coordinate and track drawing and material reviews and approvals.
- Obtain system drawings and develop initial scope documents to support estimating efforts.
- Compile project closeout documentation.
- Assist project managers with scoping, estimating, material quoting and procurement, engineering, construction management, and project reporting.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external teams, including engineers from various disciplines (Project Engineers, Planning Engineers, Operation Engineers, Environmental Engineers).
- Coordinate and communicate the status of project activities to business sponsors through written and verbal communication.
- Work professionally with a diverse group of people, including departments such as Legal, Land, and Certificates.
- Support project managers in ensuring projects are executed in a way that minimizes safety, environmental, and human impact while meeting goals for schedule, budget, safety, and quality.
- Provide clear communication both in person and over the phone, maintaining a high level of listening and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborate with project managers to set and communicate goals and ensure continuous process improvement.
- Maintain consistent, dependable attendance and perform at a high level.
- Maintain a strong focus on personal safety, as well as the safety of company assets, employees, and the public.
Position Requirements:
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution is required. A focus in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
Skills & Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in engineering and designing compressor stations, pipelines, and meter stations for mainline gas transmission service is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate with team members from various backgrounds and disciplines.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, focus on details, follow work rules, and complete assignments on time.
- Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas, proposals, and results to project managers.
- Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, track and manage tasks, and ensure completion while maintaining confidentiality when necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
