Job Description:
The Process Engineer plays a crucial role in developing, engineering, and analyzing process systems and technologies to improve efficiencies for existing systems or new processes. The primary responsibilities of this role include:
Process Technology Development and Implementation:
- Quantify and communicate process technology to Management, Production, Maintenance, Administrative, and Plant Personnel.
- Troubleshoot production issues and develop solutions.
- Supervise and perform plant trials for process improvements.
- Participate directly in the commissioning of new process technologies.
- Collaborate with internal or customer process improvement teams as required.
Engineering and Project Support:
- Conduct engineering feasibility studies, economic analyses, and basic engineering plans.
- Develop cost estimates and specifications for projects.
- Evaluate and select appropriate equipment and materials.
- Assist in estimating materials, time, and costs for projects.
- Support driving plant productivity using Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing methods, and fundamental Chemical Engineering principles.
Process Improvement and Optimization:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, focusing on debottlenecking, yield improvements, operating efficiency, and product quality enhancements.
- Prepare financial analyses to determine the impact and priority of process improvement projects.
- Implement ideas and solutions to improve the profitability of various processing units.
General Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Project management experience, either from university or corporate settings.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in mathematical and statistical analytical techniques and concepts.
Physical Requirements:
- Work performed in laboratory and process/production areas.
- Standing and walking frequently (up to 60% of work time).
- Sitting (up to 40% of work time).
- Lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds occasionally (up to 25% of work time).
- Occasional climbing of stairs (up to 10% of work time) and ability to work at heights.
- Finger dexterity.
