Job Position: Material Handler
Location: Ridgeland, SC 29936
Pay Rate: $17.00/hr
Shift: 1st Shift
We are seeking a motivated Material Handler to join our team at a reputable lumber supply company. As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement, organization, and storage of lumber and related materials within the facility. Key Responsibilities
  • Material Handling: Safely load, unload, and move lumber and related materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment as required.
  • Inventory Management: Organize and store materials in designated areas, ensuring accurate inventory counts and proper stock rotation.
  • Order Fulfillment: Pick and prepare lumber orders for shipment or customer pickup according to specifications.
  • Quality Control: Inspect materials for defects or damage and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to company safety guidelines and OSHA standards while operating equipment and handling materials.
  • Facility Maintenance: Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including sweeping, stacking materials, and properly disposing of waste.
Requirements
  • Experience: Prior experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or a similar role, preferably in the lumber or construction industry.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Experience operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment. A forklift certification is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team to meet company goals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with different types of lumber and wood products.
  • Knowledge of basic math for measuring and cutting materials.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
