We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Cardiac Device Technician to join our Cardiology Service team and play an essential role in ensuring the optimal performance and follow-up of pacemaker and ICD devices.

Job Description:

As a Cardiac Device Technician , you will be responsible for a variety of critical tasks associated with the management of pacemaker and ICD devices, supporting patient care, and assisting in data interpretation and reprogramming within clinical guidelines. Key Responsibilities:

  • Device Data Interpretation & Reprogramming:
  • Interpret pacemaker/ICD data and intervene for reprogramming within the scope of clinical guidelines and under limited supervision of the Arrhythmia Service Providers.
  • Evaluate pacemaker and defibrillator functions by performing threshold testing, ensuring safety margins are met.
  • Diagnostic Testing & Patient Follow-Up:
  • Collect and analyze diagnostic testing data, recognizing abnormal results and presenting findings to licensed providers for final analysis.
  • Play a crucial role in overseeing pacemaker/ICD patient follow-up to ensure timely, safe, and efficient care.
  • Device Testing & Functionality:
  • Perform pacemaker/ICD intra-cardiac interpretations using equipment from various manufacturers.
  • Recognize the importance of establishing underlying rhythm prior to device testing and assess patient symptoms for potential device malfunction.
  • ECG & EKG:
  • Perform 12-lead ECG/EKG and rhythm strips as needed to evaluate patient heart function.
  • Telemetry & Patient Data Management:
  • Manage and monitor web-based patient care networks for daily analysis of scheduled and alert data.
  • Manage the PaceArt system to ensure appropriate patient follow-up is scheduled and provide technical oversight.
  • Oversee home telemetry systems for cardiac patients with implanted devices.
  • Review alerts daily, assess risks using clinical knowledge, and determine the appropriate follow-up based on established criteria.
  • Patient Education & Support:
  • Interact with patients to educate them about their implantable home monitoring devices.
  • Provide patient education and troubleshoot technical issues with patients over the phone.
  • Provide ongoing support for implantable devices and serve as a resource for patient questions and troubleshooting.
  • Professional Development & Compliance:
  • Participate in and successfully complete mandatory educational requirements while serving in the role.
  • Stay up to date with current practices in pacemaker and ICD management and contribute to ongoing education and training.
  • General Support:
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department to support overall team operations and patient care.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work is performed on-site.
  • Knowledge of and experience with pacemaker/ICD device machines is required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Experience in cardiology or with pacemaker/ICD technology strongly preferred.
  • Certification in cardiac device management or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of pacemaker/ICD function, diagnostic testing, and patient care protocols.
  • Proficiency in 12-lead interpretation, rhythm strips, and ECG/EKG procedures.
  • Familiarity with the Pace Art system and web-based patient care tools.
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision and collaborate with healthcare providers.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and the healthcare team.
