Job Description:
Functions as a member of the clinical patient care team performing tasks and procedures consistent with the training and licensure of a Medical Oncologist/Hematologist
Experience practicing Radiation Oncology with a strong record (or an excellent recent graduate)
Demonstrated practice-building experience is preferred
Possible leadership opportunity and the ability to build the practice
Practice Setting: Outpatient at Free-Standing Cancer Center -

Reason for coverage: Physician retirement/relocations
Most benign Hematology is referred out as we are focusing on getting new solid tumor diagnosis seen timely (within 1 week of referral).
Demographics for this area are roughly 20% Hematology, 80% Oncology.
Number of Physicians in Practice: 3 currently
Will There be Radiation Oncologists Present? Yes
How Many APPs Provide Coverage: 2 currently
Average Number of Patients Per Day - OUTPATIENT (Clinic/Office): 10-15
Average Number of Patients Per Day - HOSPITAL (Call/Rounding): Only when patients are admitted for inpatient chemo
Trauma Level/Designation (Hospital): III
Required Duties: participation on a Tumor Board, orders tests, orders images, prescribes
Administration of Chemotherapy: by Physician
Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills
Exercises good judgment, demonstrates effective problem solving and critical thinking skills

Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements
Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 6-8 weeks
