Job Title: Safety Manager - 1st Shift

Location: Onsite - Waterloo, IA

Employment Type: Permanent

Salary Range: $60,000 – $125,000 per year

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement in safety practices at our Waterloo, IA plant. As a key member of the Plant Management Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a proactive safety strategy, fostering a safety-first culture, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a proactive safety strategy to ensure a sustainable and safe work environment.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations, including the OSHA Client Ergonomic program, and maintain related documentation.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate all safety-related incidents, recommend corrective actions, and manage reporting requirements.
  • Safety Audits: Conduct regular inspections of plant operations, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Training & Communication: Develop and deliver safety training programs, communicate policy changes, and foster safety awareness among employees.
  • Continuous Improvement: Measure the effectiveness of safety programs and lead the implementation of best practices.

Requirements:

Non-Negotiable Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills to effectively present safety issues and solutions.
  • Proven problem-solving skills to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to influence safety culture and drive change.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure compliance and identify safety risks.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in environmental safety and sustainability management.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard communication, and safety training methods.
  • Familiarity with PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Program) best practices.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in standard computer applications.
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills for business and technical procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (nice-to-have skill).
