Job Description

Position: Senior Marine Mechanical Engineer (Propulsion)

Location: Hybrid – Baltimore MD

Schedule: 4 days in office, one day at home; 6am-3pm

Duration: 12 month contract to hire

Compensation: $50-$65/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.


Day to Day:

  • Design, develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels, shipboard propulsion machinery, and review and develop technical data packages, provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements, conduct and oversee trade studies.
  • Knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.

Must Haves:

  • BS or MS in Technical, Engineering, or Marine Degree from ABET accredited institution, related to field of work.
  • Must be able to obtain a secret clearance
  • Minimum of 6 years’ documented experience with developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and conducting trade studies on the configuration of propulsion and associated components.
  • Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills required.
  • Excellent Oral, Written and Presentation skills.
  • Time Management and Organization skills.
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and provide examples of written correspondence.
  • Candidate must possess an active Secret clearance
  • AutoCAD design experience

Highly Desirable

  • Documented experience with marine or defense environment
