Our organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced Consulting Senior Accountant to join our team. This position is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment within the engineering industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and controlling the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements and reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Conduct detailed account/bank reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Prepare and post journal entries for complex business transactions, including calculation of depreciation, prepaid expenses, and payroll.
- Conduct regular ledger and balance sheet reconciliation to maintain the integrity of financial information.
- Assist with budget preparation and financial planning processes.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
- Implement and maintain comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.
- Manage QuickBooks and other financial systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall department goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency with accounting software, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
- Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, with little supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines.
- Proven ability to work both as a team member and independently.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
