Job Description

Job Title: PCA/Paraeducator

Location: Devon, PA 19333

Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:30pm (30 minute unpaid break)

Type: Ongoing Contract (W2, Weekly Pay, Benefits Available)


Responsibilities:

  • Work with special needs student in a elementary school, providing behavior and academic support and assist in implementing an effective educational programs for the students assigned by their case manager/behaviorist.
  • Assist in providing instruction and meeting special needs which includes feeding, toileting, positioning, and monitoring health conditions of students with disabilities.
  • Provide instruction as directed by teacher to individuals or small groups in a variety of areas including cognitive, gross and fine motor skills, feeding skills, self help skills and behavior control.
  • Assist teacher in maintaining health and safety of physically handicapped students by being aware of environment and the potential hazards of each child’s actions.
  • Assist students with personal hygiene, including washing hands and faces, toileting, and changing diapers and clothing as needed.
  • Monitor and control student behavior in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Assist other specialists with physical development activities.
  • Prepare students for mainstreamed classes according to established procedures.
  • Attend periodic and special training and in-services related to medical interventions and instructional program as required.
  • Assist students with braces and other orthopedic equipment to lift, position, and reposition students as needed.
  • Assist teacher in maintaining a variety of records related to student progress
  • Implement positive behavior intervention support policies.
  • Collaborate with case workers, general education teachers, and other staff as needed.
  • Assist students in social interactions.
  • Work cooperatively with others and independently as needed.
  • Perform other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High School graduate, GED or equivalent
  • Must have experience with children
  • Must be comfortable with feeding and toileting
  • Must have own mode of transportation
  • First Aid Certificate including CPR (just needs to obtain before start date)
