Overview:

Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS) is a leading non-profit organization connecting individuals from under-serviced communities is looking for a highly motivated Data Engineer to join the Data Team under the Advanced Metering Infrastructure organization at Eversource. This individual will become responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data pipelines and infrastructure that support the department’s data analytics and data science initiatives. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of data engineering, comfort working with large and complex datasets is desirable.

Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines to ingest, process, and store structured and unstructured data.
Develop tools and processes to retrieve and manage data efficiently from Azure Data Lake and other cloud storage platforms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers, to ensure data availability, quality, and reliability.
Design and implement real-time streaming pipelines and batch processing systems for diverse business needs.
Create and manage ETL/ELT processes to transform raw data into insights-ready formats.
Support and enhance architecture for automated machine learning pipelines, including train-test-deploy workflows on the cloud.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Stay up to date with emerging data engineering trends, technologies, and best practices to recommend and implement innovations.
Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity, and governance through proactive validation and auditing processes.
Qualifications:
Candidate Profile:
Proven experience in designing and developing data pipelines and workflows in a cloud environment (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
Hands-on experience with big data tools and frameworks such as Apache Beam, Spark, Flink, Kafka, or equivalent.
Expertise in programming languages commonly used for data engineering, including Python, Scala, or Java.
Strong knowledge of SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake).
Proficiency in data modeling and schema design for large-scale analytical systems.
Familiarity with data storage formats and tools, including Parquet, Avro, ORC, and Delta Lake, Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Impala.
Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible is a plus.
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for stakeholder reporting and dashboarding is a plus.
Strong understanding of data governance, security, and privacy compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Experience with cloud-native data platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, Databricks, or similar) is highly desirable.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in an agile, fast-paced environment.
