  • *** Geriatric Psych RN – Eves & EOW – 32hrs. ***
  • Unit Name: Epstein 3 – Geriatric Psych Unit.
  • Brief Unit Description: We treat patients with diverse types of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis patients detox here on the unit while treating mental health issues), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, wound and diabetic care).
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years minimum of inpatient adult psych experience.
  • Skill Sets Required: Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell); proficient in electronic health records documentation, preferably EPIC; proficient in the use of psychotropic medications and side effects; Able to assume the role of charge nurse; Able to complete admissions and discharges; Competent in the use of IV pumps; Competent in care of a diabetic patient.
  • Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients.
  • Patient Population: Geriatric Adults.
  • EMR (Charting System): EPIC.
  • Floating Required: Yes.
  • Rotating Shifts Required: Yes, for Day Rotate (7a-7p, 11a-11p & 7p-7a). Rotation not required for Night Shift.
    Job Requirements
  • Massachusetts RN License.
  • AHA BLS
  • Certification in De-escalation.
    Schedule Information
  • Eves & EOW – 32hrs.
  • Rotating Shifts Required: Yes, for Day Rotate (7a-7p, 11a-11p & 7p-7a). Rotation not required for Night Shift.

    Additional Details
  • Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations: Rights of inpatient requirements related to restraint and seclusion, legal statuses.
  • Knowledge of laws pertaining to guardianship, healthcare proxy (invoked vs confirmed) and court ordered Medication.
  • AVADE training offered on-site as well as lead EKG training.
