We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support the Communication Infrastructure Project Manager in delivering successful IT communication infrastructure projects. Most of these projects are construction-related, requiring a strong field presence. The ideal candidate will assist in planning, coordinating, and executing tasks related to communication systems while ensuring quality standards, on-time delivery, and adherence to project requirements. This role demands exceptional communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to interpret blueprints accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the Communication Infrastructure Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and managing IT communication infrastructure projects.
• Read, interpret, and apply blueprints, drawings, and schematics to guide project execution.
• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project workflows.
• Prepare, review, and edit project documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Conduct site surveys, which include:
o Driving golf carts.
o Carrying and climbing ladders (up to 10 ft).
o Opening ceiling tiles.
o Documenting findings (e.g., taking photos, annotating PDF drawings).
o Walking through tunnels.
o Visiting other campuses (e.g., Jupiter, Davie).
o Opening ground pull boxes or manholes.
• Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure proper installation and maintenance of communication systems, including switches, fiber connections, and copper cabling.
• Assist in the quality assurance and testing of VoIP systems and network configurations.
Requirements:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical communication abilities (e.g., IT-related terminology and documentation).
• Effective social skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical schematics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel.
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat for document editing and review.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Dress Code: • Presentable attire is required for meetings.
• Casual dress is allowed when working in the field. Preferred Qualifications:
• Basic knowledge of networking, including switches and fiber connections.
• Familiarity with copper cabling systems (analog and RJ45).
• Understanding of VoIP (Voice over IP) systems and configurations.
• Experience with Fluke copper testing tools or similar equipment
