Summary: The Director of Operations oversees all fulfillment activities from planning the seasonal schedule of production to shipment of goods. Develops policies and procedures to ensure staff carry out daily operations efficiently and effectively and to ensure compliance with company objectives, systems, and established regulations. With other management, leads the development and adoption of new systems and practices to improve business operations. Coordinates activities with other departments and Shipper-partners in pursuit of company goals and fosters an environment of trust and respectful behavior. Acts as the liaison with shipper partners, working to help them maintain packing efficiencies while still meeting customer service demands, and providing a high level of customer service to all parties.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide essential feedback as to your direct report’s performance; provide compensation recommendations.
  • Assign, direct, and supervise staff members in accordance with company policies and objectives. Ensure supervised managers follow company policies in employment matters.
  • Ensure proper staffing and scheduling to meet business needs.

  • Reinforce the Company Goals and possess a good understanding of company policies, procedures, and strategic objectives. Implement and communicate them as necessary.

  • Develop staff capabilities through job training, cross-training, and team interactions.


Master Planning:

  • Develop and publish the Annual Marketing Plan matching sales and production to maximize the value of the fruit crops.
  • Coordinate input from Shipper-partners, Sales Management, historical activity, and experience to develop the annual plan.
  • Publish the plan and track actual performance versus target for both sales and production.
  • Align daily and weekly production activities to the annual plan.
  • During the season, adjust the plan for new information as needed. Realign sales and production activities to meet revised targets.


Operational Oversight:

Sets policies and procedures and directs staff members in accordance with company objectives and systems, and monitors results for the following areas:

  • Production activities including the delivery of daily production schedule to production facilities, meeting allocation targets, optimizing inventory value, setting inventory thresholds, and maintaining the packaging catalogue.
  • Logistics (Internal) including daily appointment scheduling, daily transfers, and daily purchase order processing.
  • Quality Assurance including daily inspection quotas, good delivery rates to customer and other areas of special focus as needed.
  • Food Safety Compliance, with the Sustainability and Social Responsibility Manager, ensure clean-break standards are observed in accordance with established board policies, the Recall Crisis Plan Manual is maintained with annual updates and regular staff training, food Safety concerns or complaints are properly escalated.
  • Serve as Key Contact point concerning all aspects of Production, Logistics and QA for all other matters as required, including onboarding new warehouse operations, new Software development, travel to shows or customers, continuing education courses to broaden knowledge and find new ways to improve policies and procedures, and other special projects as need.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • 4-year college degree in Business Administration preferred
  • 8-years’ experience in field
  • Previous management experience required.

Compensation Range: Wages start at $115,000 up to $165,000 annually, based upon experience. This position is a Full-time Exempt position.
