Examines and evaluates patients and counsels them on various functional medicine treatment plans. Educates patients on various procedures and performs non-invasive procedures. Reports to the VP & Chief Functional Health Officer regarding administrative, provider relations, and day-to-day guidance.Duties and Responsibilities: Performs clinical procedures under the direction of the VP & Chief Functional Health Officer according to approved protocols. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and appropriate treatment regimens for assessed medical conditions consulting with the VP & Chief Functional Health Officer.Develop personalized treatment plans by conducting thorough patient assessments, including medical history, lifestyle factors, and environmental influences.Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including internal laboratory, external laboratory results, imaging, and other professional testing.Utilize established internal programs and treatment protocols that are medically indicated.Maintain a problem-oriented health record for each patient in accordance with the Center’s established Health Informatics Management policies and procedures, including providing appropriate and legible documentation. Complete thorough documentation of each patient’s visit in the electronic health record and ensure encounters are closed within 24 hours in accordance with the Center’s established Health Information Management policies and procedures.Assure continuity of care by providing medical services on a timely basis as per Clinic schedule within the Center’s scope of practice and the Nurse Practitioners training.Monitor and maintain all equipment and stock. Maintain treatment rooms and inform management of needed supplies. Commit to ongoing education, including remaining informed on the latest trends, techniques, and advancements in functional medicine.Maintain appropriate productivity standards of specialty as established by the Center; maintain appropriate and efficient patient flow and minimize schedule changes and absences.Provide excellent internal/external customer service at all times to assist patients with their health care needs.Train and mentor medical students and clinical support staff engaged in activities and procedures, as appropriate.Provide medical oversight and guidance to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as needed to ensure smooth clinical operations.Follow established departmental and clinic policies, procedures, and objectives; continuous quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.Participate in specified health promotion, education, and/or prevention programs as needed (e.g., diabetes collaborative/health fairs, etc.); attend and participate in clinic meetings and other clinic functions as required by the Center.Perform other related duties as assigned.Job Qualifications: M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited U.S. Medical School.Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Texas.Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty.Must be registered and have current DEA, and other such certificates to legally operate as a practitioner in the State of Texas.Previous experience with hormone replacement therapy and all modes of delivery, pellet therapy preferred.Hospital privileges at designated area hospitals if required for specialty.Bilingual in English and Spanish desired.Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Instructor-Led by American Heart Association.Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change.Required Physical and Mental Activities and Requirements: Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects.
