Job Description
Job Title: RN Oncology Infusion Clinic
Job Specialty: Adult Oncology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 4 rotating days per week from 0730 to 1800 (4x10 Hr shifts)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: 1 year of experience required
License: Current RN License issued by the State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
Certifications:
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) by the American Heart Association
- Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)
Must-Have:
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Competency in administering chemotherapy and other medications
- Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills
- Good interpersonal skills for relationship building with colleagues, patients, and their families
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond to cultural and language needs of patients and their families
- Basic computer skills
Job Description:
- Administer chemotherapy, oral, and subcutaneous injections, and other medications as ordered by physicians and provide necessary consultations and education regarding these therapies.
- Assume responsibility for clinic-specific assignments and deliver care competently.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and changes in physician orders.
- Assist physicians during procedures and treatments, including conscious sedation.
- Monitor and obtain physiological data and intervene as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about chemotherapy, side effects, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate patient follow-up activities and assist in care coordination by scheduling and referrals.
- Maintain strong communication with patients and families regarding care plans and procedures.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
