Medcor, Inc. has an amazing employment opportunity for a PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA) or NURSE PRACTITIONER (NP) as an Advanced Practice Clinician on Midway Island. This is a 2-6 month assignment beginning February 9th, 2025. This position is onsite at Midway Island. This is not a new graduate or remote opportunity.BENEFITS:Working at Midway Island is an opportunity of a lifetime. Midway has a special place in WWII history and is a National Wildlife Refuge with millions of sea birds, sea turtles, Hawaiian Monk seals, crystal clear waters, great snorkeling, beautiful white sandy beaches, and a temperate climate. This location is extremely remote, and the island community rarely exceeds 75 persons. There is no cost for food, lodging, utilities, cable tv, internet service, or transportation on the island. The workload is normally light, and calls for medical care outside of normal clinic hours are infrequent.GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Advanced Practice Clinician will be employed by Medcor, Inc.The position’s primary responsibilities will be to provide primary care, emergent, and urgent care for injuries and illnesses that present to the clinic.This is a single provider, single employee clinic.The APC is expected to provide services in an honest and ethical manner, demonstrate good clinical judgment, and deliver excellent clinical care in accordance with current standards.The APC participates in and supports quality improvement initiatives and complies with Medcor policies.GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:The Medcor APC maintains good interpersonal relations with patients and staff.Communicates openly and honestly with all stakeholders.Acts in a consistently fair manner and builds trust with patients and co-workers.Demonstrates essential teamwork and participates in meetings and affairs.RESPONSIBILITIES:General clinical duties include, but are not limited to:Provide primary care, emergent, and urgent care for injuries and illnesses that present to the clinic.Be available on-call for limited emergencies after-hours.Provide occupational health services to employees.Conduct physical exams and interpret exam results for regulatory compliance.The APC is required to independently care for acutely and critically ill patients. Required clinical skills include:Interpret ECGs and rhythm strips.Manage cardiopulmonary arrest.Stabilize and manage major trauma.Perform emergency endotracheal intubation.Manage orthopedic injuries.REQUIRED CURRENT CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:Licensure in the United States with the ability to become licensed in Wyoming.NCCPA certification or AANP Certification.Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).A VALID U.S. PASSPORT IS REQUIRED UPON TIME OF APPLICATION.CultureWe advocate for our clients and ourselves.Medcor PhilosophyMedcor embraces a set of interconnected practices that everyone can tailor to their own life and work.Medcor is a tobacco-free and smoke-free workplace!We prefer that candidates be able to interview via Skype and webcam with Medcor Clinical Affairs team.
