Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Specialty: Cardiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour Day Shift (7 a.m. - 7 p.m., 3 x 12-hour shifts)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Current unencumbered RN license, graduation from an accredited program
License: Registered Nurse
Certifications: ACLS and EKG interpretation competency
Must-Have:
- ACLS completion within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment
- Completion of annual EKG arrhythmia interpretation competency with a minimum score of 85
- 100% score on medication test; employee will have two chances to pass the exam with remediation material available
Job Description:
- Provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy.
- Demonstrate professional leadership and support to the healthcare team.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an age-appropriate plan of care utilizing the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education.
- Maintain professionalism when dealing with issues or conflicts, and utilize appropriate resources as needed.
- Provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, families, visitors, and employees.
- Assess risks to patient safety and implement appropriate precautions.
- Comply with standards outlined by the organization and accrediting agencies, including safety and injury prevention standards.
- Engage in patient-centered care, including involving the patient and family in psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, and diversity needs in care assessment.
- Construct and implement the plan of care using nursing knowledge and skill.
- Coordinate the implementation of the interdisciplinary plan of care for assigned patients.
- Develop goals, treatment plans, and discharge plans that meet individual patient/family needs.
- Complete hourly rounds with purpose to improve nurse communication, safety, and anticipate patient needs.
- Collaborate with the patient's designated care partner to meet educational, physical, psychological, and spiritual needs.
- Participate in bedside report to address points of care, concerns, and progress with the patient/family.
- Provide patients with caregiver name and contact information each shift.
- Support and inform the patient and family about hospital-specific components of the Patient Centered Care Delivery model.
- Address patient concerns using service recovery techniques including empathy and blameless apology.
Teamwork & Collaboration:
- Act with integrity, consistency, and respect for differing views.
- Assume role of team member, charge nurse, or team leader based on the need and/or situation.
- Follow communication practices that minimize risks associated with handoffs among providers and across transitions in care.

- Report errors to promote analysis and design of prevention or system improvements.
- Demonstrate effective use of technology to promote safety.
Informatics:
- Navigate electronic health records accurately to enter and locate patient information.
- Participate in the collection of data to support nursing research and evidence-based nursing practice.

- Make discretionary patient care decisions/interventions independently within the scope of practice.
