We encourage collaboration between clinical and non-clinical staff to assure we are providing our community with comprehensive and compassionate health care.POSITION OVERVIEW: The Urology RN provides quality patient and family centered care as a member of the health care team in accordance with St. Charles Health System’s mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures. The RN applies standards for professional nursing practice and focuses clinical care to enhance the experience for patients, families, and all others. This nursing position serves as a clinical partner to SCMG urologists and advanced practice providers and collaborates with other departments to provide comprehensive care for patients.This nursing position will provide and oversee the provision of specific care to assigned patients throughout the shift, consistent with the scope of RN licensure. This nursing position does not directly manage other caregivers but is responsible for providing clinical guidance and direction to medical assistants.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:Supports physicians and advanced practice providers in the development, execution, and evaluation of patient care plans.Closely monitors patients’ response to care plans, including medication adherence and at-home self-care as applicable.Provides reinforcing education and coaching to patients through end-of-visit consultations.Supports in-office procedures and pends routine orders, when necessary, in adherence with standard protocols.Appropriately assesses, monitors, and recognizes abnormal findings in diagnostic testing such as laboratory results.Conducts independent nurse clinic visits to include, but not limited to: catheter teaching, voiding trials, urodynamics, catheter changes, patient education, etc.Assists with managing and triaging patient calls and medical advice requests.Manages incoming patient communication from phone calls and MyChart regarding symptoms, care plans, and treatments.Leads clinical daily huddles with medical assistants.Mentors medical assistants to successfully develop them as effective, compassionate caregivers.Works closely with the clinic manager in the oversight of clinical support staff and provider schedules.Participates in creating a healing environment that supports all aspects of the care environment and the wholeness of each individual, patient, and caregiver.Participates in creating intentional relationships and demonstrates focus attitudes and behaviors that enhance the care experience.Provides a therapeutic presence in service to others by purposefully responding to the needs of patients in a caring way.Documents all patient care with proficiency in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory agencies.Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately in accordance with St. Charles Health System policies and procedures for medication administration.Develops cultural competence and provides appropriate care to patients and family members who belong to diverse cultural backgrounds.Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects.Supports the Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.Delivers customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient, and accurate.May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.EDUCATION:Required : As required by RN licensure.Preferred : Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:Required : Current valid Oregon RN license.
