The UCI Edwards Lifesciences Foundation, Cardiovascular Innovation and Research Center (CIRC) is an academic-based research and training center housed within the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine.We aim to accelerate advances in cardiovascular health and health equity.
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) the Chesler Lab Technician will perform routine tasks for the laboratory, which includes performing regular administrative duties, lab maintenance, and assisting with supervised experiments. This position will include purchasing and stocking of research supplies, ensuring operation of CO2 tanks, incubators, and similar daily use equipment. The technician will assist with cell culture, animal husbandry, and experimental methods such as protein assays, qPCR, and histology. This position performs routine tasks including but not limited to: attending staff meetings; updating/distributing lab protocols, SOPs; preparing solutions; adhering to all experimental protocol and good laboratory practices; maintaining safety training and safe work procedures; lab maintenance including supply inventory, routine equipment maintenance, cleaning and organizing lab spaces and materials; and performing other duties as assigned. The Chesler Lab Technician must be able to work under supervision after working under close supervision during the initial assignment of tasks. Must be able to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
- Must have the ability to work under supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to adhere to all experimental protocol and good laboratory practices.
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain safety training and safe work procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Skill and/or knowledge of biology and chemistry fundamentals and laboratory techniques at the community college level or above.
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with lab members, and CIRC staff, faculty, students.
- Ability to learn to follow/update/distribute lab protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to learn to regularly conduct lab maintenance including supply inventory, routine basic equipment maintenance, and cleaning and organizing lab spaces and materials. Required
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
- Possess at least an associates degree.
- Interest to work in a biomedical research setting. Experience in animal handling. Preferred

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $22.66- $23.99 (Hourly).
