Overview:
Performs general maintenance such as repair of equipment and buildings - requiring practical skills and knowledge. Proficient in such trades as commercial roofing, carpentry, masonry, sheetrock & painting, road and surface work and basic welding. Able to operate multiple types of equipment. Must be able to multitask and perform leak repairs on roofs.
Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Commercial roof leak troubleshooting & repairs
- Multiple mechanical & carpenter modifications & assemblies of office cubical systems
- Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks
- Replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles
- Sheetrock repair, taping & spackling.
- Basic mechanical maintenance & repairs
- Assists skilled trades in the performance of their duties.
- Performing general maintenance and safety checks on equipment and machinery.
- Proficient use of various hand tools, job site equipment for job completion supporting contract requirements
- Well versed in all carpentry fields from framing to finished carpentry.
- All other duties as assigned

Skills:
Skills are required to perform carpentry & mechanical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include Commercial roofing knowledge of locating leaks, materials & basic membrane repairs. Operating equipment used in skilled trades, Scissor lifts, Boom lifts, power and hand tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; and planning and managing projects. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform mathematical and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the job include standard methods, materials and tools used in assigned skilled trade, and safety practices and procedures. Basic welding skills. Able to work off of ladders & scaffolding. Able to recognize problems & provide efficient & timely solutions.
Education/Licenses:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and five years of construction and general maintenance experience.
- Must have a valid State of NJ Drivers License Class B CDL preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation for FAA/WJHTC Badge.
- Ability to lift and carry eighty (80) lbs.
- Must possess all basic carpentry hand tools.
