Our client is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney with ideally 5-7 years of experience to join their dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity for a highly-motivated attorney who is looking to take their career to the next level. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both advising clients on day-to-day labor and employment matters as well as representing them in complex litigation. Key responsibilities:

  1. Employee/Plaintiff Representation: Represent employees in disputes related to discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, retaliation, and other workplace issues
  2. Counsel clients on their legal rights, develop case strategies, and manage phases of litigation, including drafting complaints, conducting discovery, and handling pre-trial motions
  3. Advocate for clients in hearings, trials, and mediations, ensuring effective representation in court and before administrative agencies
  4. Employer Defense and Counsel: Defend current employer clients in employment-related claims such as wrongful termination, harassment, wage and hour violations, and discrimination
  5. Advise employers on legal compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, such as FLMA, FLSA, ADA, and Title VII
  6. Review workplace policies, employee handbooks, and guidelines to mitigate risks and enhance organizational compliance
  7. Provide strategic guidance on internal investigations, terminations, performance management, and dispute resolution
  8. Strategic Counsel and Risk Mitigation Offer proactive legal counsel to employers to help them avoid litigation, including advising on personnel decisions, employee discipline, and compliance with labor regulations
  9. Assist employers in navigating complex labor and employment challenges, balancing the needs of the business while ensuring legal and ethical compliance
  10. Litigation Management Manage cases from initial intake through resolution, including trial prep, discovery, depositions, and settlement negotiations
  11. Prepare and argue motions, and represent clients at hearings, arbitrations, and mediations
  12. Work collaboratively with senior attorneys to develop legal strategies and achieve favorable outcomes for clients


Qualifications:

  1. JD from an accredited law school
  2. 5-7 years of experience in L&E law, with a focus on both counseling and litigation
  3. Proven ability to manage client relationships and maintain strong communication with stakeholders
  4. Experience representing clients across diverse industries
  5. An entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in business development and growing a practice
  6. Active admission to the state bar in Maine


Salary is commensurate with experience. $120,000+ base salary plus VERY good bonus structure. This is a potential partner track role.
