Key Responsibilities:
Soldering and Assembly :
- Perform soldering of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) according to IPC standards.
- Use appropriate tools and techniques for soldering components (e.g., hand soldering, wave soldering, reflow soldering).
Quality Inspection and Assurance :
- Inspect solder joints to ensure they meet IPC-A-610 standards for acceptable soldering quality.
Rework and Repair :
- Rework or repair faulty solder joints and components on PCBs as necessary.
- Use tools like soldering irons, hot air rework stations, and desoldering equipment for the repair process.
Adherence to Standards :
- Follow IPC guidelines for soldering processes, material handling, and assembly standards.
Documentation and Reporting :
- Record and document soldering processes, inspections, and any issues or repairs.
- Report quality issues to senior technicians, engineers, or supervisors and suggest improvements when necessary.
Collaboration :
- Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure products are assembled and repaired correctly.
Tool Maintenance :
- Regularly clean and maintain soldering equipment, tools, and workstations to ensure they are in proper working condition.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- IPC Certification (e.g., IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-610) is required or preferred to demonstrate knowledge of industry standards for soldering and PCB assembly.
- Hands-on Soldering Experience : Proficiency with hand soldering, reflow soldering, and/or wave soldering processes.
